Emerald and ruby jewelry: the Christmas collection explained

25 October 2026

14K yellow gold lab grown emerald interlocking circles pendant

For our first Christmas we added two colors to the house: emerald green and ruby red. The Christmas collection is 42 designs, each made in 8 metals, set with lab-grown emeralds and rubies and accented with lab-grown diamonds. Here is what the stones are and how to choose between the pieces.

What a lab-grown emerald or ruby is

A lab-grown emerald is beryl, the same mineral as a mined emerald, grown in a controlled environment. A lab-grown ruby is corundum, the same as a mined ruby. They share the chemistry, hardness and color of their mined counterparts. The difference is origin and price, which is why we can set a generous emerald in a pendant for a fraction of what a mined stone of that size would cost.

Ruby is 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, second only to diamond, so it wears well in rings and bracelets. Emerald is 7.5 to 8 and a little more careful: it suits pendants and earrings best, which is why most of our emerald pieces hang rather than sit on the hand. Pink sapphire, used in a halo pendant and a halo ring, is also lab-grown corundum.

Why we pair them with diamonds

Colored stones read best beside something white. A diamond halo around a ruby makes the red look deeper; marquise diamond wings on a ruby butterfly make the body glow. Every accent diamond in the collection is a lab-grown diamond from our own reactors.

The designs

Rings. Oval ruby halo; emerald cut emerald three stone; oval emerald in a pink sapphire halo; the oval starlight solitaire with a 2 ct lab-grown diamond, which comes with its IGI certificate; and the pear emerald wave set of two stacking rings. From $550 in silver, $1,550 in 14K gold. See Christmas rings.

Pendants. Emerald interlocking circles; pear emerald with a pink sapphire halo; heart ruby in a diamond halo. From $310 in silver.

Necklaces. Emerald station and ruby station necklaces, stones spaced along a fine chain. From $775 in silver, $1,710 in 14K gold.

Earrings. Ruby butterfly studs with diamond wings; ruby diamond halo studs; pear emerald diamond drops. From $370 in silver.

Bracelets. Pear emerald diamond station bracelet; ruby and emerald vine bracelet; emerald and pear diamond toi et moi bracelet. From $270 in silver.

Sets. Five matching pendant and earring sets: emerald bezel; ruby pear bezel; ruby pear and marquise; emerald diamond halo; emerald pear and marquise. From $780 in silver, $2,150 in 14K gold. Our gift sets guide compares them.

Metals and prices

Each design comes in sterling silver, 10K and 14K gold in white, yellow and rose, and platinum. The design and the stones are the same; the metal sets the price. The emerald interlocking circles pendant, for example, is $345 in silver, $1,160 in 10K gold, $1,800 in 14K gold and $2,910 in platinum. Yellow gold makes emerald and ruby look warmest; white gold and platinum make them look sharpest.

Who to give them to

Emerald is the May birthstone and ruby the July birthstone. Beyond birthdays, red and green are the colors of the season without any of the pieces looking like a decoration: a station necklace or a vine bracelet is worn in July as happily as in December.

Care

Warm water, a drop of dish soap and a soft brush, as for diamonds. Keep emeralds away from ultrasonic cleaners and sudden heat. Store each piece separately so nothing scratches. Our care guide covers the rest.

Made to order, in time for Christmas

Every piece is made to order in 3 to 4 business days and shipped free and insured. Order by Thursday, 10 December in the US, or Friday, 4 December for international delivery. Standard pieces can be returned within 30 days of delivery.

Questions people ask about the Christmas collection

Are the emeralds and rubies real?

Yes. They are lab grown: a lab-grown emerald is beryl and a lab-grown ruby is corundum, the same minerals as mined stones, with the same chemistry, hardness and color. The pink sapphires are lab-grown corundum too, and every diamond in the collection is a lab-grown diamond from our own reactors.

Do the pieces come with a certificate?

Every single diamond of 1 carat and above comes with an IGI certificate, such as the 2 ct center diamond of the oval starlight solitaire ring. Accent and pave diamonds under 1 carat are not individually certified.

Will it arrive in time for Christmas?

Yes, if you order by Thursday, 10 December in the US or Friday, 4 December internationally. Every piece is made to order in New York in 3 to 4 business days, then delivered in 4 to 5 business days in the US or 5 to 9 internationally. Shipping is free and insured worldwide.

How much does the Christmas collection cost?

From $210 for the sterling silver ruby half heart studs to $4,260 for the platinum emerald diamond halo pendant and stud set. Each of the 42 designs comes in sterling silver, 10K and 14K white, yellow and rose gold, and platinum; the stones are the same in every metal.

What if I guess the wrong ring size?

Resizing is free within 30 days of delivery. If you are unsure of a size, earrings, pendants, necklaces and the matching gift sets need no sizing at all.

Can a Christmas gift be returned in January?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery. Any standard piece can be returned unworn and in its original packaging, using the prepaid insured label we send.
